What is Paper Tube Packaging?

Fortunately, paper tubes have a long, solid history for companies looking for more sustainable packaging options. As with most packaging options, the paper-making process continues to adapt and evolve, becoming more efficient and providing higher quality products. Paper tube packaging begins with raw material, also known as raw wood pulp. During production, machines glue together kraft or white card paper layers, determined based on the customer’s preference. A typical paper tube consists of three to five layers. The glued paper is then rolled with a metal mold into a predetermined length and diameter. Once rolled, the paper is then trimmed according to the customer’s specifications. Customized labels are printed and then mounted to the trimmed tubes.

Sustainable and Earth-Friendly

People are paying more attention to the products they’re buying and the environmental effect of these products. Consumers are educating themselves now, more than ever, to ensure the companies they purchase products from are practicing and communicating the same daily values, such as sustainability and being environmentally friendly.

As with anything else, it’s essential to conduct extensive research before starting your project. While many companies and suppliers may claim that their paper tubes (or form of paper packaging) are 100% recyclable, it’s essential to check their percentages of actual raw material. While suppliers may aim for 100%, certifications and extensive background research on your supplier are crucial, as your consumers are relying on your integrity and credibility. To put it simply, just because you are choosing to use a paper packaging option does not entail that the packaging is 100% biodegradable. Before agreeing to terms with your supplier, always ensure that you have proper documentation and evidence to support your sustainability claims.

Here’s How HB International Help!

Our promise to our customers is to provide high-quality products at a competitive price. With this being said, all of our selected paper suppliers are certified through FSC ® (also known as the Forest Stewardship Council). Why do we choose suppliers with the FSC ® certification? FSC ® promotes responsible harvesting and forest management to ensure the raw materials you and your suppliers are using are of the highest quality while simultaneously ensuring their harvest and forest management are environmentally friendly and appropriate. We believe that having our paper suppliers FSC ® certified allows us the opportunity to use the highest quality of raw materials and the ability to provide our customers with a 100% recyclable product that will satisfy both consumers and the environment.

Tough and Robust

Considered a high-performance packaging solution, paper tubes provide customers with luxurious, high-quality protection. While a paper tube may not appear rough and tough, its light blocking capabilities offer an excellent solution for sensitive products such as food, beverages, and other types of products such as skincare or health products.

Hot fill tests are conducted with a specified liquid from anywhere between 70-80℃/158-176℉ to ensure paper tubes can withstand high temperatures without affecting the paper tube’s quality.

Are you looking to use paper tubes for food products? Paper tube packaging has the option for a PE-coated interior specifically for grease and water resistance. A waterproof liner can be incorporated into the tube both internally and externally to ensure the safety and freshness of your product. These waterproof liners work to minimize moisture and other external factors that could have the potential to harm your product.

Lightweight and Cost-Effective

Looking to lower your packaging costs? Paper tubes are a great alternative to your product’s packaging options. Manufacturing paper tubes does not entail a lot of human labor, which consequently minimizes labor costs. While paper tubes may not be the most efficient space saver, they are incredibly lightweight, and because of their lightweight, they are much easier to transport, which has the potential to lower your shipping costs.

Customizable

Paper tube packaging is genuinely one of the best options for customization. Paper tubes allow companies to set themselves apart using creative solutions to fit their specific product’s needs. From selecting a tube style and unique dimensions to custom design printing and inserts, paper tubes provide companies the opportunity to maintain the integrity of their product without sacrificing quality.

Here Are Some Customizing Options Our Customers Appreciate:

Child-Resistant Options

Within any industry, packaging will always matter, and it will continue to be a priority. Companies use packaging for various reasons: to protect their product, keep their product safe during transit, enhance shelf life, and market their product. Paper tubes are a resilient and reliable packaging option as they’re highly durable, and their thick structure helps prevent structural and product damage. Most importantly? While not all products are harmful, those that can create dangerous situations must be taken seriously. In order to ensure the safety of children (and animals), paper tubes have the option for locking systems. While harmful products should always be kept out of sight and away from the reach of children and animals, paper tubes have the customizing option of lock mechanisms to ensure the safety of those who shouldn’t have access to a particular product.
